CLEARING ICE & SNOW

Living with snow can be a challenge, but these are a few steps you can take to meet it safely.
  1. When clearing snow and ice, do light warm-up exercises beforehand and take frequent breaks.
  2. Dress warmly, paying special attention to feet, hands, nose, and ears.
  3. Push snow in front of you when possible.
  4. If you must lift snow, pick up small amounts and lift with your legs, not your back.
  5. Do not toss snow over your shoulder or to the side.
  6. Use rock salt or de-icing compounds to remove ice from steps, walkways, and sidewalks.
  7. Place sand on de-iced walkways to prevent slipping.
  8. Read the owner's manual before starting your snow blower and follow all the recommended safety steps.
  9. Do not leave a snow blower unattended when it is running.
