TREE TRIMMING

Take care when trimming your tree to ensure a carefree holiday.
  1. If using an artificial tree, purchase one with the label "Fire Resistant/Retardant."
  2. Choose a freshly cut live tree to lower the risk of fire.
  3. A freshly cut tree has green needles that are hard to pull from the braches and do not break when bent between your fingers, and a trunk butt that is sticky with resin.
  4. Place your tree away from fireplaces, radiators, televisions, heating ducts or sunny windows.
  5. Use a tree stand with widespread legs for balance.
  6. Keep your tree stand topped up with water.
  7. String no more than three strands of lights together.
  8. Use only indoor lights on indoor trees.
  9. After the holidays, remove the tree as soon as possible.
