Preventing household burns


Burns can be a common and preventable injury at home.

The following tips will help to avoid injury related to burns.
  • Keep pot handles turned away from the edge of the stove so they can't accidentally be knocked over.
  • Blow out candles before leaving a room.
  • Wear gloves when working with harsh chemicals.
  • Check smoke alarms regularly.
  • Unplug clothes irons, hair styling irons, and other hot devices when finished using them.
  • Always wear oven mitts when handling hot pots, pans or dishes.
